Understanding calendar cycle estimates

This calculator uses the calendar method to create an approximate cycle map. It estimates ovulation as the start of the last period plus the average cycle length minus 14 days. The fertile window is shown as the five days before estimated ovulation through the day after it.

The next-period estimate adds the average cycle length to the first day of the last period. Because cycles can vary from month to month, the result is useful as a planning estimate rather than a promise about a specific date.

Stress, illness, travel, sleep changes, breastfeeding, medication, and hormonal conditions can shift ovulation. Calendar predictions are not a dependable form of contraception and cannot diagnose pregnancy, infertility, or a health condition.

Important: “Lower-risk” does not mean “safe.” Use a method recommended by a qualified clinician if you need reliable pregnancy prevention.

Frequently asked questions

Is the fertile window exact?

No. It is an estimate based on the average cycle length you provide.

Can this tool confirm ovulation?

No. Ovulation tests, cervical mucus observations, basal temperature patterns, and clinical assessment provide different evidence.
