Our Core Privacy Promise
AfriWidget is built with a privacy-first architecture. Most calculations — including health, utility, and local tool results — run in your browser. Finance and Education tools may send the relevant calculation context through our secure server-side Groq proxy to produce an AI insight. We have no user accounts, do not maintain a calculator-submission database, and ask you not to enter personal identifiers.
1. Introduction
Welcome to AfriWidget ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit and use our website (the "Site") and its associated tools and calculators (the "Services"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of all our users and to maintaining full transparency about our data practices.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect
It is important to be explicit about what AfriWidget does not collect, because our business model is designed around not collecting personal data:
- Calculator Inputs: Most inputs are processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. When you use a Finance or Education AI insight, the relevant calculation context is sent through the secure Groq proxy used by that feature. Do not enter names, contact details, or other personal identifiers into calculator fields.
- Health Data: We do not collect, store, or process any personal health information. AfriWidget is not a health service provider and has no interest in accumulating health data.
- Financial Data: Finance calculations run locally, but relevant result context may be sent through the secure AI proxy when you request a Finance insight. We do not maintain a database of those submissions.
- Academic Records: Academic calculations run locally, but relevant result context may be sent through the secure AI proxy when you request an Education insight. Do not include personally identifying information.
- Account Information: AfriWidget has no user accounts. We do not collect names, email addresses, usernames, or passwords as part of our core calculator Services.
3. Information We May Collect
While we do not collect the personal data you enter into our calculators, we do collect limited, non-personal information to operate the Site and improve our Services:
3.1 Automatically Collected Data
Our web hosting provider automatically collects certain standard log data when you visit the Site, including your IP address (which may be anonymised depending on your location), browser type and version, operating system, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the referring URL. This data is collected for security and operational purposes and is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
3.2 Cookie Data
AfriWidget uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. Cookies are small text files stored in your browser that help us understand how visitors use the Site. We use functional cookies (necessary for the Site to operate, such as remembering your cookie consent preference), analytics cookies (to understand aggregate usage patterns through anonymised data), and advertising cookies (to serve relevant ads through Google AdSense and similar services). 3.3 Contact Form Data
If you choose to contact us through our contact form, we will collect the information you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address, and message. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not added to any marketing database or shared with third parties.

The limited non-personal data we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Site and ensuring its technical performance
- Diagnosing and fixing technical issues and security vulnerabilities
- Understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve our tools and content

AfriWidget uses a limited number of third-party services to operate the Site. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing its data practices:

- Tailwind CSS CDN: Our pages load Tailwind CSS from a CDN. This may create a minimal server request log at the CDN provider but does not collect personal information.
- Web Hosting Provider: Our hosting provider processes standard server log data as described in Section 3.1.
6. Data Security
Because all personally sensitive calculator inputs are processed entirely within your browser and never transmitted to us, our exposure to data security risks is minimal by design. The standard log and cookie data we do collect is protected by our hosting provider's security infrastructure, which employs encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls.
No system is completely secure. However, our privacy-first architecture — computing all results locally in your browser — means that even in the unlikely event of a data breach of our hosting infrastructure, none of your health, financial, or academic data would be exposed, because we never possess it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your country of residence, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access data we hold about you, the right to correct inaccurate data, the right to deletion, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact form. Because we hold minimal personal data (essentially limited to any contact form submissions), most of these rights will apply to that data only.
8. Children's Privacy
AfriWidget's Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law.
