What this donation screen checks
This calculator uses a basic planning screen based on age, body weight, and the time since a previous donation. It applies an age range of 18 to 65 years, a minimum weight of 50 kilograms, and a 90-day interval for male donors or a 120-day interval for female donors. The earliest date is calculated by adding the applicable interval to the last donation date.
These rules are intentionally simple. Blood services may use different age limits, weight thresholds, donation intervals, haemoglobin requirements, and policies depending on country, donation type, medical history, and local regulations. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, recent illness, travel, medicines, tattoos, procedures, and infections can also affect eligibility.
An “eligible” result here means only that the supplied planning inputs pass this narrow screen. It does not guarantee that you can donate. The donation centre will ask health questions, check vital signs and haemoglobin, and make the final decision. Be honest during screening and follow the centre’s instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Does an eligible result guarantee donation?
No. A centre’s questionnaire, examination, haemoglobin test, and current rules determine the final decision.
What if I feel unwell?
Do not donate until you have recovered and followed advice from a qualified healthcare professional or donation centre.
